Our hydrodynamic trash-trap systems sit at a 45-degree angle across the canal channel, using the natural force of stormwater flow to lift debris clear of the waterway automatically — no manual clearing crews, no seasonal shutdowns. Paired with ultrasonic water-level sensors and flow-velocity meters, every unit reports live conditions back to municipal operators before a bottleneck ever forms.

Aliyatou Smith

Founder & CEO

Aliyatou Smith manages municipal stormwater capital improvement projects in the Washington, D.C. area, bringing more than four years of project-management experience to some of the region's largest public infrastructure programs. She holds a background in Civil Engineering and International Relations from Penn State Brandywine.

On trips to Senegal and Guinea, Aliyatou witnessed firsthand what happens when coastal cities absorb a monsoon season through infrastructure that was never designed for it — streets turned to canals, homes and businesses under water, and municipal crews with no real-time way to see a blockage coming.

She founded Project Ndiyan to bring the same engineering discipline she applies to U.S. municipal stormwater programs back to the region — replacing reactive cleanup with infrastructure engineered to prevent the flood in the first place.
